Vagisil Feminine Wash is formulated to neutralize external odors using a surfactant base tempered with Lactitol, a prebiotic. The product is technically aligned with the vulvar pH range of approximately 4.5. However, data suggests that the inclusion of Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES) and synthetic fragrance may be drying for some users.
The formula also contains Salicylic Acid and Chamomile. While the prebiotic component theoretically supports beneficial surface bacteria, the presence of sulfates and fragrance can lead to a stripping of natural lipids. This may result in surface dryness or a stinging sensation upon application for those with pre-existing sensitivity.
To prevent the disruption of the delicate acid mantle, it is suggested to rotate this wash with a lipid-restoring intimate moisturizer to maintain the integrity of the skin barrier.
